These scanners show you all the computers that have the Apple Remote Desktop client software configured, and what version they are running. Then just drag-and-drop them to your All Computers list or create a Smart Computer List that tracks computers in a way that makes the most sense for you. Or you can sort computer lists, scanners and saved tasks into Groups by location model, or department. You can customize the information you see for each computer in your lists.
Labels
You also have the option to assign one of seven colored labels to your computers. For example, you might want to use the red label for computers that need a security update. Once tagged, you can create a Smart Computer List to include all computers marked with a particular label.
Perisistent Task History
Once you have your computers arranged to your liking, Apple Remote Desktop provides you with the tools to manage them with timesaving efficiency. Your executed tasks are retained in a list that allows you to go back and reuse them in the future. And using the included support for Apple Scripts commands and objects, you can create your own custom workflows that can be reused as needed. Over 30 Automator actions are included that you can use as-is or combine to create a custom workflow.
You can even share these actions with others in your organization. If you support a school, for instance, you can share workflows with teachers that will allow them to lock screens and perform basic administrative duties in the classroom.

Please note: Before you attempt to connect to UMKC resources remotely, please make sure your operating system (Apple OS X) has all applicable security updates installed. To connect to your campus Windows PC from a Mac you will need to use the Microsoft Remote Desktop application for Mac version 10.3.8 (or higher). If you are using a university-owned Mac, you may already have this app installed. Mac OS X Remote Desktop Connection Instructions
- Open the Microsoft Remote Desktop application
- Click the '+' icon
- Select PC
- For PC Name, enter the name of the remote computer to connect to. Or check How to find my computer name
- For User Account, click the dropdown to change the setting
- Click Add User Account
- For User Name, type [email protected] in DomainUsername
- For Password, type your UMKC Username Password. Note: you will need to update your Remote Desktop settings every time you change your UMKC Username password.
- Click Save
- For Friendly Name, enter the PC name
- Click on no gateway to change the setting
- Select Add Gateway from the dropdown
- For Server Name, enter tsg.umkc.edu
- For User Account, click Use PC User account
- Select your UMKC username from the list
- Click Add
- Click Add again
- To initiate the connection, double click on your PC Name tile
- Click Show Certificate
- Click Always Trust to prevent seeing this warning again for the PC specified
- Click Continue
